A joint project of the MAS GTA and MAS in Housing, ETH Zurich
With interventions by Countdown 2030, iG Nicht im Heuried, Mieten-Marta, Newrope/ETH Professur für Architektur und Urbane Transformation.
Facing a surging demand for housing, the City of Zurich has embraced demolition and redevelopment as a key strategy to generate additional dwelling units. The exhibition critically examines the rationales that underpin this practice. Four proposed projects in the city and nine historical case studies from cities in Europe, North America and Asia provide an opportunity to focus on residents’ voices and the social consequences of Ersatzneubau.
